Summer Rising Program Overview for NYC Students (Grades K-8)
We are thrilled to offer the Summer Rising program again for NYC students in grades K-8 this summer!
Program Details:
Summer Rising is a free program run by NYC Public Schools and the Department of Youth and Community Development, providing academic and enrichment opportunities including field trips, arts activities, and outdoor recreation. Licensed teachers will offer academic support in the mornings, while community-based organizations will lead enrichment activities in the afternoons.
Eligibility:
Any student currently in kindergarten through eighth grade for the 2024-2025 school year can apply, but seats are limited. Please apply if your child plans to attend most of the summer programming.
Important Dates:
- March 4, 2025: Application opens in MySchools (afternoon).
- March 28, 2025: Application closes in MySchools.
- April 24, 2025: Results and waitlist available in MySchools.
- May 8, 2025: Deadline to accept offers. Note: Families will not be automatically enrolled to ensure active participation and allow for others to move off the waitlist.
- July 2, 2025: Summer Rising starts for K-8 students.
- July 4, 2025: Closed for Independence Day.
- August 8, 2025: Ends for middle school students.
- August 15, 2025: Ends for elementary school students.
Support for Diverse Learners:
Students with disabilities will receive necessary supports, and multilingual learners will engage in culturally responsive academic opportunities and receive targeted language development instruction.
